It's Give Big Tuesday!
During this season of thankfulness, let us not forget the children and families of Sierra Leone!
Here’s a glimpse into the lives of those we care for in Sierra Leone…
1991-2002: A civil war occurred, taking the lives of over 50,000 men, women, and children.
2014-2016: Ebola took the lives of 4,000 people.
2017: A landslide took the lives of over 1,000 people.
2020: COVID-19 caused economic growth to contract by -2%.
2022: The war in Ukraine caused purchasing power to decrease, the cost of living to increase, and fuel prices to rise by 120%.
As of 2022, a majority of Sierra Leoneans live on $3.20 USD a day.
So, why are those we care for in Sierra Leone so happy?
As they say often in Sierra Leone, “It is by the grace of God!”
Psalm 4:7, “You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.”
Have a blessed Thanksgiving season!
